I was just wondering what kind of bands will be playing at the convention. The flyer says 10 bands as does the website. Please don't tell me that they are going to be the typical valley metal/hardcore/punk bands. Nothing against the bands, but the crowd that they will attract will more than likely clash with the whole concept of the anime/comics/games theme not to mention that the crowd they will attract. Somewhere in Austin or San Antonio there is a girl that sings J-Pop, well an americanized version of it since she mixes both English and Japanese together. I can't remember the name of her off of the top of my head, but it would be interesting to listen to her if you can find out who she is. I can't remember her name though. I think she performed at Ikkicon in Austin a couple of years back. Not too sure though.

Bands are being organized through Good Bar productions. they are a number of bands that vary in genre. All bands are local, and with the sheer number of styles, every one should enjoy themselves.
As for the clashing of crowds...
this is one of the first things I thought about when joining all these themes together. I thought, will metal heads get along with otaku? will the emo kids blow up at the sight of brightly dressed Cosplayers? Will the hyper/aggressive gamers take their games too seriously and try to beat up the Wolverine standees, A la Marve Vs. Capcom? the truth is, I don't think so. I enjoy all these different types of entertainment and look forward to having it all brought together. many people share at least two of these interest and should be able to find new ones by seeing what it really is to cosply, game, jam, Ect. this is a convention for everyone and i will try to make it the best! (insert slow clap here)

thats awesome. i listen to hardcore, watch subbed anime, play SF3 and Halo, and have a rather nice collection of comics in storage. I knew there were others like me and all of us should have a damn good time at the con!

I don't know if these bands have been contacted yet, but 2 bands that I booked about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago were simply awesome. They actually dress up and are the only 2 bands in the valley that actually electro/industrial music. Sin DNA and Sodomy Down The Cross are great bands. They've performed with some big industrial bands It wouldn't be a bad idea to add these 2 bands if you want some diversity for the band selection. They've played with some big name industrial acts as well so they aren't strangers to the stage. I think their myspaces are http://www.myspace.com/sindna and http://www.myspace.com/sodomydownthecross. Check them out, they will put on a great show.

I'm familiar with the artists singing in both languages, but I guess I got a little confused. I think I posted that comment when I had just come back from A-Kon. I probably had so much crap going on in my head from the convention that I got confused. Thanks for the clarification.

I really, REALLY wish that I could of got their autos, but it didn't happen. :*( I ended up buying their CD off of CD Japan's website. Boo. The show was nothing short of amazing, OMG!!! I heard they came back on Saturday just for a little while to sign more autographs, but I wasn't aware of that till about Saturday night/Sunday morning. Boo again. Oh well, I'm for sure going next year, its simply amazing there. Don't know if I'm going to stay at the Sheraton though, a little too pricey but I can save up since there is time. I just know that I won't stay at the Dallas Plaza Hotel again. It was only $50 a night and only about 5 minutes away from the convention, but it was GHETTO!
Oh you said that you were trying to get their autographs, but did you? If so, I envy you...
Budo Grape, lol!!! They were cool

i'm not sure if you saw me at their concert...
i was right in the front on the crowd a little bit to the right of the stage about where hizaki was playing
he was right in front of me and the security standing in front didn't bother me the least because i was wearing 7 1/2 inch platform shoes so i got to see everything while people around me were complaining about not being able to see
haha
i felt like such an ass
but i wasn't about to give up my front spot for them
versaille stayed the whole weekend
they attended the a-kon staff party sunday night after everyone had left
i got them to autograph one of the band posters i bought, the little tainted reality flyer they were giving away, and one of the picks hizaki was using during the concert!
i got two picks!
one of them was one of the few he threw out to the crowd just for show with his name on it, and the other one was the one he was using throughout the concert!
so i had him sign that one for me since it didn't have his name
he was soo cute and adorable!
but also very clumsy!
haha

There were so many people there that it would probably be impossible for me to remember you, unless your costume stood out. I took around 180 pics there, who knows, maybe your in one of them. Most, but not all, are on my myspace profile.
As far as you and your Versailles adventures go and how they turned out, it makes me so envious of you. I really wish I could of met them in person like you did. You got 2 pics as well, damn. :*( Lucky, lucky you. I'm sure I'll see them again as I like to travel alot. I just need to practice my Japanese and head on over to Japan. I have that Rosetta Stone language software so it should be just a matter of time until I can hold a conversation in Japanese. That would be so awesome! I'm sure I wouldn't want to leave once I get there.
7 1/2in platform shoes...damn! Lol, yeah I'm 5'11 which isn't too tall but it was enough for me to see the show pretty good while some of the shorter people around me were trying to see the show looked kinda upset. Oh well.
BTW, are you going to go both days? I might just go on Fri because of the Cosplay, but my younger brother wants to compete in the Smash Bros tourney so I might be there on Thurs as well. This con should be good for its first time. I'm actually getting kinda ancy waiting for it to come around. I have a feeling everything is going to be cool.
